Introduction to the group standard "Inorganic Whisker Reinforced High Density Polyethylene (HDPE IW) Hexagonal Structure Wall Pipe"

On June 28, 2020, the China Composite Materials Society released the group standard "Inorganic Whisker Reinforced High Density Polyethylene (HDPE IW) Hexagonal Structure Wall Pipe" (T/CSCM 02-2020), which was officially implemented on September 1. In order to better promote the implementation of group standards, we would like to briefly introduce the main content of this standard.
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, symbols, materials, pipe structure and connection, classification and marking, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and markings, transportation, and storage of inorganic whisker reinforced high-density polyethylene (HDPE IW) hexagonal structure wall pipes. Suitable for inorganic whisker reinforced high-density polyethylene hexagonal structured wall pipes used in drainage, sewage discharge, chemical wastewater, mining wastewater, power communication and other engineering applications. Suitable for drainage temperatures ranging from 0 ℃ to 65 ℃, with instantaneous drainage temperatures not exceeding 95 ℃; Suitable for ambient temperatures ranging from -40 ℃ to 65 ℃.
Main content of the standard
(1) Terms, definitions, and symbols
Inorganic whisker modified high-density polyethylene is a granular material made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin as the main raw material, with the addition of inorganic whiskers and functional additives through twin screw extrusion modification, abbreviated as "HDPE IW mixed ingredient".
Hexagonal structural wall pipe is a closed corrugated structural wall pipe with a flat inner wall and a hexagonal outer wall section formed by extrusion of mixed ingredients.
(2) Raw materials
The main raw material used for the production of specialized materials for pipes should be PE100 grade resin, among which other materials that can improve the performance of pipes can be added. The polyethylene (PE) resin content (mass fraction) should be above 80%. The reinforcing material is silicate whiskers. The basic performance requirements of HDPE IW mixed ingredients comply with corresponding regulations.
(3) Product structure and connection methods, classification and labeling
The connection methods of pipes include socket and sleeve connections. The pipes are divided into different levels based on the ring stiffness. The pipes are marked according to their name, material code, nominal size, ring stiffness level, and this standard number.
(4) Requirements for color, appearance, specifications, etc
The colors of the inner and outer layers of the pipe should be uniform and consistent, with the outer layer generally being blue or golden.
The inner and outer surfaces of the pipes should be clean and smooth, without bubbles, depressions, obvious impurities, and irregular ripples. The two ends of the pipe should be flat, perpendicular to the axis, and located in the trough area. The inner and outer walls of the pipe trough area should be tightly fused and not detached. The effective length L of the pipe is generally 6000 mm, and the average inner diameter, wall thickness, joint length, joint clearance, socket wall thickness, and physical and mechanical properties should meet the corresponding requirements.
(5) Test methods and inspection rules
Under the specified testing environment, adjust the state of pipes of different specifications, and conduct tests on their appearance, color, size, and physical and mechanical properties to obtain corresponding data. Product inspection is divided into type inspection and factory inspection.
(6) Marking, transportation, and storage
Each pipe should have at least one permanent mark on the wave crest or inner wall. The product shall not be subjected to severe impact, throwing, or heavy pressure during loading, unloading, and transportation. The storage site for pipes should be flat, neatly stacked, with a stacking height of no more than 4 meters, away from heat sources, and not exposed to sunlight.
